#Art Book

I have been working on a long-term project of my own, while trying to produce it as a comic instead of written novel. The five characters at the top, are the main survivors of the devastation that begins to demolish civilisation in the dark graphic novel I am producing, in a black and white form.

Creating the content first by hand had allowed me to really understand the layout of the design, if things don’t add up, the time consumption of it being fixed helps me minimalize the issue in the future. Drawing is something I really enjoy however, I know that if I draw every page, the elements I struggle with will start to build up and further develop. The Grey colour indicates a dream sequence.

Before drawing the comic, I stared picking the colour scheme I wanted. By choosing the Black and White style over colour, it allows your mind to create more of the content. By giving you everything in one go it will have you looking at the page and maybe enjoying it but, will not allow you to fill in the image with your creativity. As the goal for the comic is to be dark and gritty, colour will brighten the mood. With this I began the build on the characters in the comic, this included the enemy.

#3D Design

Creating something as iconic as the lightsaber is the dream of many little kids lost inside people and was somthing i wanted to design using the 3D software, Maya. Making the icon as a glowing tube and shell was just not worth making. I wanted to brake it down and construct not just the shell but its internal componants. This led to me researching and finding comic book images showing the components however, unfortunately not in detail. Creating a logical list of components was the next step and resulted in me making…

• Cover with belt clip
• Power bank stand
• Power bank
• Crystal
• Crystal shell
• Conductor
• Magnifying glass
• Glass cover
• Outer shell and cap

After making the Saber I wanted to be able to have to ability to customise it. I decided to create an additional component that would clip onto the bottom of the Saber, so that you could connect 2 and make it a duel light Saber.
